About the AUD/IQD rate

The AUD/IQD rate is how many IQD one Australian dollar buys. It moves constantly with interest-rate expectations, commodity prices and global risk sentiment - see what moves the rate. Tradergy shows the mid-market reference rate and does not forecast where it’s heading. For the 52-week highs and lows and a daily table, see the AUD/IQD rate history.

The other directions of this rate: the reverse rate, IQD → AUD, is on the receiving Iraqi dinar view, and sending Australian dollars to Iraq is covered on the AUD → IQD transfer page. Every AUD pair sits on the convert hub, and to work in more than one currency at once there is the currency converter.

How the Central Bank of Iraq handles a damaged note

A note damaged by burial, burning or misuse is replaced in Iraq at ninety per cent of its face value. The Central Bank of Iraq publishes the whole schedule, and the ten per cent deduction is only one line of it. Tears up to three centimetres and corner cuts up to two leave a note fit for circulation, taped on one side or both. Deteriorated notes, two-piece notes with different serial numbers joined by tape, notes taped across their length or width, and notes that have lost less than half their area are unfit but compensated in full.

Past that, the Bank keeps the note. It confiscates without compensation anything carrying external writing, drawing, stamps or adhesive, anything that has lost half its area or more, anything composed of two pieces, and anything counterfeit or altered. Notes damaged by gunfire or contaminated with blood require police or judicial certification before the Bank will look at them.

Documentation scales with the amount presented. The Bank asks for identification or a salary statement between ten and twenty-five million dinars, and property deeds, share certificates or official sale documents between twenty-five and one hundred million. Documentation the Bank finds unconvincing is referred to its legal department for a written undertaking of legal and criminal responsibility.

The notes in circulation come from two issues at once. The Bank records the 2003 series receiving technical and technological updates in 2013, with the fifty-dinar note excluded and then withdrawn from circulation on 1 May 2015, and the fifty-thousand-dinar denomination issued in January 2015 to complete the present range. Both the 2003 and 2013 issues circulate concurrently.

Travellers are treated separately again. In instructions published in July 2026 the Bank set the monthly foreign-cash ceiling for an adult traveller at two thousand United States dollars, reduced from three thousand, describing the measure as one of equitable access and promoting credit and prepaid cards as the primary means of covering expenses abroad.

No. Banks and transfer services add a margin, so the rate you’re offered will be a little worse than the mid-market rate shown here.
