Tradergy - live Australian dollar exchange rates, economic indicators and calculators
The Ledger
Every figure on Tradergy carries a struck time, and that stamp is part of the figure rather than decoration beside it. It says when the value was observed, not when the page was loaded. A number without a moment attached is not a measurement of anything, because the thing being measured moved while you were reading it. Where a figure cannot be struck from a source, this site shows no figure at all rather than the last one it saw.
The numbers on this board do not share a clock, and that is the thing most worth knowing before reading them together. An exchange rate is a market observation and can move between one glance and the next. An official statistic is published on a calendar announced in advance, which the Australian Bureau of Statistics maintains as a public release calendar, so the consumer price index is a quarterly figure and stays exactly where it is between releases no matter what else happens. A policy rate moves only when a decision is taken, which is neither continuous nor scheduled by the month.
So a board on which one row has moved and three have not is working correctly. The three are not stale. They are answering questions that were last answered on a different day, and the struck time on each one tells you which day that was.
Nothing here is a dealing rate, a quote, or a recommendation. The rates are reference midpoints published so that everyone has a common yardstick, and no retail transaction happens at one. The calculators run in your browser and keep nothing. There is no account to open on this site and no form that asks who you are, which is a permanent design choice rather than a feature still to be built.
