About the AUD/GNF rate
The AUD/GNF rate is how many GNF one Australian dollar buys. It moves constantly with interest-rate expectations, commodity prices and global risk sentiment - see what moves the rate. Tradergy shows the mid-market reference rate and does not forecast where it’s heading. For the 52-week highs and lows and a daily table, see the AUD/GNF rate history.
Where else this pair appears: the reverse rate, GNF → AUD, is on the receiving Guinean franc view, and sending Australian dollars to Guinea is covered on the AUD → GNF transfer page. Every AUD pair sits on the convert hub, and to work in more than one currency at once there is the currency converter.
What the country actually sells
Guinea's foreign earnings come from a very narrow base, and the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative publishes how narrow. In 2022 the extractive sector contributed over 17 per cent of government revenues, 20 per cent of gross domestic product, and 92 per cent of exports. The country produces gold, diamonds and bauxite, the last mostly for export, and holds significant reserves of iron and nickel.
The base has just been widened, though not in the direction of diversity. Simandou, described by the Initiative as the world's largest undeveloped high-grade iron ore reserve with approximately four billion tonnes of recoverable ore, and a project of some twenty billion United States dollars including mines, railways and port infrastructure, began initial production in November 2025. Guinea EITI maintains a dedicated page for it and has disclosed mining revenue projections through its 2023 report.
One tax change shows up directly in the export figures. The Initiative records that Guinea's export tax on artisanal gold has been suspended since July 2016, and that the suspension led to an increase in gold exports, which is a reminder that the composition of the 92 per cent is set by policy as well as by geology.
Guinea has also been unusually open about the terms. The Initiative notes that the country went beyond the minimum standard by disclosing its 2017 infrastructure agreement with China, backed by mining revenues, with key elements of the framework published for the first time in its 2018 report.
