The world's only non-rectangular national flag, formed of two stacked crimson pennants with a deep blue border. Article 8 counts the charges: a white crescent moon in the upper figure showing eight of its sixteen rays, and a white twelve-rayed sun in the lower. Schedule 1 then gives a twenty-four-step ruler-and-compass construction for drawing it, in four parts, and leaves only the flag's size to the Government of Nepal. Neither assigns a meaning; the blue is conventionally read for peace, and the hope that the nation will endure as long as the sun and moon do.

A continent pretending to be a country - Australia is the only nation that fills an entire continent, with most of its 27 million people clinging to the coast while the red-dirt interior does its own thing.
A blue field with the Union Jack in the canton, a large white seven-pointed Commonwealth Star below it, and the five white stars of the Southern Cross at the fly. Six of the big star's points stand for the states and the seventh for the territories; the Southern Cross marks Australia's place in the southern sky.
The Nepalese rupee is pegged to the Indian rupee rather than floating on its own, so the AUD→NPR rate tracks AUD→INR closely and moves for Indian reasons as much as Nepalese ones. Remittances are an unusually large share of Nepal’s national income, which is why this corridor is busier than the country’s size suggests.
The exchange rate is set on the sending side - by the service the sender chooses in Australia - so the most useful thing a receiver can do happens before the transfer: share the live mid-market rate on this page so the sender can judge the margin in their quote. How the money arrives in Nepal determines any local receiving charges - bank-to-bank transfers can pass through intermediary banks that deduct handling fees.

The rupees handed over in Nepal are generally not the ones that left the sending country. Nepal Rastra Bank's Remittance Bylaws require a licensed remittance company to bring foreign currency into Nepal from abroad as pre-funding, through the banking system, and then to pay the beneficiary itself or through an appointed sub-agent or sub-representative. The balance is in place before any single instruction arrives, and the payout draws on it. That is why a collection can complete in Nepal well before the foreign currency behind it has finished moving.
Under the same Bylaws the shareholders of an applicant company must be Nepali citizens aged eighteen or over, and licensed companies must build their minimum paid-up capital to 250 million rupees by the middle of 2028. Who may run a payout at all is drawn that narrowly.
The Bylaws also separate the channels by what may be handed across the counter. Where a payment is made through a payment system operator or payment service provider licensed by the Rastra Bank, the Bylaws state that such payments cannot be made using cash.
On the account side there is no international account number to quote. Nepal is not among the ISO 13616 formats listed in the IBAN registry that SWIFT maintains as the standard's registration authority, so a sender works from the bank's identifier code and the account number instead. Nepal Clearing House Limited operates the domestic real-time systems, the Retail Payment Switch and the National Payments Interface, though its own description of that interface covers access for domestic participants and says nothing about an inbound cross-border leg.

A little less than the mid-market figures above. The service the sender uses in Australia sets the rate and fees; local receiving banks in Nepal can also apply their own charges depending on how the transfer arrives.

Whatever their transfer service asks for on the receiving side - typically your full legal name and local bank account details in Nepal. Give the name exactly as your bank records it; mismatches are the most common reason a transfer is delayed.
Why did I receive less than the rate on this page suggests?
Retail rates are set away from the mid-market midpoint by a margin the provider keeps. Comparing a quote against the reference rate on this page is what makes that margin visible, since it is rarely stated as a fee. On a bank-to-bank transfer an intermediary bank can also deduct a handling charge in transit.
