About the AUD/ARS rate

The AUD/ARS rate is how many ARS one Australian dollar buys. It moves constantly with interest-rate expectations, commodity prices and global risk sentiment - see what moves the rate. Tradergy shows the mid-market reference rate and does not forecast where it’s heading. For the 52-week highs and lows and a daily table, see the AUD/ARS rate history.

The other directions of this rate: the reverse rate, ARS → AUD, is on the receiving Argentine peso view, and sending Australian dollars to Argentina is covered on the AUD → ARS transfer page. Every AUD pair sits on the convert hub, and to work in more than one currency at once there is the currency converter.

What the Banco Central has changed, and when

In April 2025 the Banco Central de la República Argentina opened a band and let the peso float inside it, buying at the floor, selling at the ceiling and staying out of the market in between. The floor fell and the ceiling rose by one per cent a month. The same change abolished the monthly cap on how much foreign currency an individual could buy, along with the limits on amount and destination.

From 1 January 2026 the Banco Central replaced that mechanical drift with an indexed one. Both edges of the band now move each month at the rate of the most recently published monthly inflation figure, so the band widens as prices do; because it carries no adjustment for inflation in the United States, the Bank notes that the ceiling rises in real terms as well as nominal.

One restriction was reinstated and then widened, and it is routinely described wrongly. Anyone accessing the exchange market signs an undertaking not to buy securities settled in foreign currency for ninety consecutive days, a condition the Banco Central extended in April 2026, by Communication A 8417, to anyone transferring foreign currency abroad. It restricts a securities trade. Buying dollars is not capped: the Bank's own foreign exchange market report for July 2026 records individuals buying a net US$4,124 million in that month alone, of which US$2,916 million was in banknotes.

In July 2026 the Banco Central went further in the other direction, admitting the US dollar as a currency for salary accounts by Communication A 8460 and obliging banks to handle dollar cash deposits and withdrawals at the account's home branch.

The numbers all of this is denominated in are the residue of four separate currency reforms, and the Banco Central still publishes the chain on one page: 100 old pesos to one peso ley in 1970, 10,000 pesos ley to one peso argentino in 1983, 1,000 pesos argentinos to one austral in 1985, and 10,000 australes to one peso in 1992. Multiplied through, a single peso today stands for ten trillion of the pesos in circulation in 1969.

Common questions

This page shows the current mid-market AUD→ARS rate with a converter and a 90-day chart. The mid-market rate is a reference midpoint, not a rate you can transact at.

Will I get the mid-market rate?

No. Banks and transfer services add a margin, so the rate you’re offered will be a little worse than the mid-market rate shown here.
